They've become strangers
Not strangers really.
But when they meet in public,
They pretend they never met before.
They stutter, they sweat,
They shift in their seats,
Escape to a different room,
Or gaze at the ceiling above.
One tries to deny the presence of the other.
While she carefully turns her face,
He quietly lowers his head -
They see each other, and yet they cannot.
Two partners can become strangers,
For love is a strange thing.
It can make two enemies friends
And two friends strangers for life.
It's a strange feeling to act like a stranger
With someone who was once your world.
You lived, laughed and cried together,
But one day, you're left with nothing -
Only some awkward feelings for one another.
