LIFE AS IT IS

Built in 1883, Brooklyn is one of the major tourist attractions of New York City. It's also one of my most favorite places and constructions in NYC. On a breezy summer day, this bridge looks gorgeous!

From my veranda I was watching the sun set On one cloudless, balmy evening.  I saw a flock of geese fly by Their flight calls shattering the silence  Of the quiet August night.  Then a black shroud gently covered the foliage The way a mother bird covers her hatchlings To protect and keep them warm. Sitting under the wings of the night The flowers thoughts of the night and bees: Oh, when will this night be over? Standing on my veranda at the end of the day, I, too, thought the same.  I thought of a breezy morning  When the birds of all kinds sing and chirp And the flowers sway softly. Even though the moon's beautiful and the stars pretty Nature perhaps looks her best Under the splendid sun. The trees, birds, rivers and mountains tell the mankind How uncannily gorgeous they all can be! © Wara Karim

When they held hands, The Atlantic sent luminous waves To its vast and sandy shore. When they held hands, The robins danced and chirped In the rainforest of Amazon. When they held hands, The sun peeked through the clouds And illuminated a dull afternoon. When they held hands, A shooting star ran across the sky, Calling people to make a wish. When they held hands, The dandelions swayed in soft breeze And played with the green grass. © Wara Karim 

When a dream slips through fingers, Love yourself. When a person you love leaves you, Love yourself. When the road to success seems never-ending, Love yourself. When happiness becomes a mirage, Love yourself. Love yourself, because you know yourself Like no one else does. Love yourself, because to love others You need to love yourself. Remind yourself that you're unique - That there's no one like you, And there will never be one. He said I would never stand again, But I did. She said I was only a burden to the world, But I proved her wrong. You said I would never laugh again, But I laugh, every day. When they said I couldn't do this or that, I said to myself that I surely could, And that I must. Who says you need knees to stand? Feet for all kinds of work? And toes to smile or to laugh? Yes, I lost two limbs, But I gained courage in return, The courage to stand without feet, knees and toes. © Wara Karim

Life may not be perfect, life may not always give us what we want, but life never ceases to be beautiful. It's as beautiful as the flowing Mississippi, or the afternoon rainbow in the western sky.
